My British week days

After the weekend that Marla and I enjoyed it was tough to top it with the follow up days, especially since Marla refused to follow my advice and went to work. But perhaps the best part of London was the sleeping in to all hours of the day...

Desiring to draw and hating that I decided to leave all my paints and crayons in Chicago I went in search of this art store...

...along the way the coolest thing I saw was this dude and his cat just hanging out on his shoulder. As if in prison I bartered a square for the right to take this pic...

Soon after this encounter I came upon the pub The Winchester...

... and being a huge Simon Pegg and Shawn of the Dead fan hoped it was the inspiration.

Afterwards I hopped the Tube. where I learned the English do not have air conditioning in public transit...

... but they do enjoy some Krispy Kreme apparently

The only thing that truck did was make me even more excited for a home cooked meal with family!

The next morning I had to check out of my hotel. The EuroStar to Paris was to leave at 5 the following morning, and I decided it would be best to spend yet another night abroad at a train station. The positive was that because I had to check out I was, for the first time, up in time for the free breakfast at my hostel...

...but I couldn't make my way through the mob of backpackers attacking it like hyenas, so instead had a white coffee at my usual nook across the street.

After breakfast I headed to Camden...

... where I saw some cool funky stuff. If you look closely in the window this particular YMCA proudly features Britney Spears!

It was soon apparent that the English were into some funky stuff...

Then it was off to spend the day at London Bridge. The first thing I came upon after exiting the metro was the largest sun dial I have ever seen.

It was quite ironic as London's usual overcast weather made it impossible to read... But the London bridge on a boat? Mon Dieu!

I even got to go into another body of water...

... which inspired me to pose as if I were back in India. After all, it was a lot of familiar architechture...

... and though I kept passing signs like this everywhere...

...I couldn't help but think that here and now is exactly where I want to be!

  2. I read through this post atleast 3 times! It's so amazing, and the pictures! Yes, the pictures are great! Especially of the hostel. AMAZING, I guess I had a different picture in mind. This is amazing and it makes me smile. I look forward to your long posts more than a new episode of some silly tv show... Sorry I used the word "amazing" 3 times, no 4 times.

    Awesome,

    Alyson A.
